The Villas

It wasn’t long during a stay in 2004 that Morris fell in love with the island of Kefalonia. After driving around and an extensive search for the perfect site in the summer heat, Morris arrived in the north of the island, in a forested area just outside Fiskardo.

The neglected and long-forgotten site was barely accessible and was covered in thick brambles and undergrowth and Macchie forest. Undeterred, Morris found a way to reach the top of the site from the road. Wearing shorts was not a sensible idea. With cut and bruised legs the top was reached and a decision to buy the site was made.

What Morris discovered was arguably the best site on the island, giving extensive and panoramic views to the island of Ithaca.

Morris faced many challenges designing and constructing the two villas. How to build a predominantly glass building in an earthquake region. How to get water and electricity to a site without mains connection and no telephone or internet. And, of course, learning to speak Greek!

The design was carried out, permissions sought and negotiations entered into and in late 2005 the work commenced and the villas completed in 2007.

What you see today is a result of a vision, of ingenuity, determination and years of maturing planting.

We hope you stay a while, experience the quiet and the view and take away a memory of this magical place.
